This is the first startup of my recently acquired-from-the-junkyard Briggs opposed twin. It's the 18 hp horizontal shaft model. It was out of a craftsman lawn tractor I found laying upside down. After a ridiculous amount of time spent scraping carbon depsits and oil gunk out of the upper cylinders and an oil flush to remove the condensation from the crankcase, I figured I'd at least try to start it up. The fuel pump is bad, the muffler is still full of oil (from being upside down for who knows how long), and all the sheet metal is being re-painted, but it fired up like a charm. PS the smoke is mostly from the oil that's still stuck in the exhaust headers and muffler. The rest is most likely from the degreaser residue in the upper cylinders.
