Not surprisingly, we at HeatingOil.com are often asked to predict how much heating oil will cost in the coming days, months, and years. While we do provide plenty of information and analysis of heating oil markets and prices, making outright predictions is a dangerous business—just one unforeseen circumstance can cause major turnarounds in oil prices and make any predictor look foolish. That being said, we like to get heating oil price predictions from any qualified person willing to give us one. Though no single prediction can be trusted to be 100 percent accurate, looking at various predictions from various people in the industry can at least give a helpful ballpark idea of what to expect. Richard Larkin of Hedge Solutions, a company that provides hedging and other financial services to the heating oil industry, was kind enough to give us his price predictions for the upcoming heating season. Though he began his statement with the classic disclaimer that no one can ever predict with certainty how prices will move in the future, he touched a few familiar dynamics currently present in heating oil markets and gave us his best guess.
